Happy Memorial Day!!

Well, we had a WONDERFUL three day weekend. Actually, for us, it started on Thursday. My little brother, Kris, came in to town from Chicago for the weekend. He hasn't seen Katelynn since December. Katelynn loves her Uncle Kris!! But by Saturday evening she decided she didn't like him very much any more. I am not sure what it was, maybe the beard, but she wanted nothing more to do with him. Just wait until he is here the next time, we won't be able to separate them! Thursday K also had her 6 month pictures taken. I cannot wait to see them. I will post the website whenever her shoot is up. Should be in two weeks. Friday evening Katelynn and Daddy hung out while Mommy went to Kingfisher to hang out with the Aunts and the Cousins and scrapbook. We had a great time and I got a few more pages done and some great ideas from the fam. Saturday we went to Barnes and Noble for story time with Emma and Gavin and then came home and got ready for the trek to Eischen's. Katelynn was in the best mood and LOVED all the attention from everyone. Sunday was Sunday School (our 2nd trip to the church nursery and she did great, again.) and then a cookout with Uncle Kris, Nanaw Mickie, Grandma and Grandpa B, Uncle Paul, Aunt Angela, Uncle David and Candace. GREAT FOOD and even better conversation! (Angela made the best cake with homemade cream cheese frosting. It was so good Brian ate a piece for Breakfast this morning!) Today we went out to the Memorial Day Ceremony at the 45th Infantry Museum. Brian and I have gone almost every year since we have been dating and it was Katelynn's first. There were about 600 people this year, it gets bigger every year and that is great. It was a bit warm, but we lathered on the SPF 60+ and grabbed the juice filled sippy cup and our big white hat and had a good time. We had lunch at Coits and then came home and both K and I took really good, really long, much overdue naps! (Not sure what Daddy did, I was snoozing!!) Hope everyone had a great weekend and if anyone was or had loved ones traveling, hope all made it home safely. Happy Memorial Day to everyone and I hope we all remember what this day is really about.

Happy .5 Birthday Katelynn!!

Yes, little Miss Katelynn is 6 months today. It doesn't seem like it has been 1/2 a year since this precious little girl came into our lives. She is growing like a weed and just amazes me every single day. I know I am taking a ton of pictures, I just hope they show how much she has grown and how truly beautiful my Little Bit is.

We had our 6 month Dr's appointment today. (Coincedence? Nah.) She did great. I hope I can remember these measurements correctly. (I took the papers they wrote them on to work today, to read, and I didn't have time and forgot them on my desk.) She weighs 16 lbs 8 oz (50-75 percentile) is 25" long (25-50 percentile) and her head is 17.4" (75-90 percentile). Dr. Krous called her gorgeous (ok, he called her pudgy) and said she was perfect (ok, right on track). I truly believe his comments were open to interpretation. =) I found out I need to be feeding K more solid foods, twice a day. That is going to be fun, but we'll make it work. These next three months are going to be so much fun.

My First Mother's Day

was perfect. we had our family over on Saturday night for dinner. The food was good and it was so great to have everyone together. Emily and Julie came in town and Paul and Angela were here also. Brian's mom and dad gave me a gift card to Cottonwood. I am going to add that to the gift card K gave me for Christmas and I am going to have a long day of relaxation one of these days. K sent me flowers on Wednesday and they were beautiful. My mom gave me a card from Katelynn. She recorded K babbling in it and I love it!! One of my most favorite things so far. I wish we would have gotten a picture of us together, but that didn't happen. Oh well. I think a friend of mine is going to take pictures of K for her six month birthday next week and I might see if she will get one of the two of us. I hope every mother had a great Mother's Day on Sunday.

We found one she doesn't like

GREEN BEANS! Yuk!! (I tasted them and they were sweet. I agree with Katelynn.)

Better Late Than Never

Here are pics of some of Brian's handy work. He has really gotten the hang of this horticulture thing. I believe he missed his calling. Our flowers look amazing! Thanks B!

She likes 'em!! She really likes 'em.

Carrots that is. We actually tried carrots on Friday and K seemed to like them. I mean, look at that face, utter enjoyment. (I went ahead and tried them, and they tasted like,well,........carrots! Phillie was pretty interested in the whole ordeal. I think she has realized this litttle thing that arrived about 6 months ago might be coming in pretty handy soon. She is starting to eat food and likes to drop things. Phillie's favorite place is going to be underneath the highchair.) We have had carrots for three days in a row. No problems. So maybe tonight we will try another orange. Although, I am not sure that I will be trying the sweet potatos. Since I don't like them to begin with, I don't think I will like them pureed or mixed with corn. We had a very good weekend. The three of us hit the greenhouses and bought plants for all of our pots, (I will post pics of Brian's creations later tonight.) we went out to dinner with a couple of good friends on Saturday night, Sunday we went to Sunday School and then made a quick trip to Okarche to see my cousin who is home for 2 weeks from Iraq. K took FIVE (5) naps yesterday and was up bright and early this morning. Hope everyone has a good Monday. Remember, this Sunday is Mother's Day. Don't forget to give your mom a big ol' hug and kiss 'cause this mother stuff is lots of work.
